Gardening isn’t my expertise and I do not know anything about it at all. But I wish that someday, I would be taking care of my own garden. I am always amazed with people who are able to maintain the beauty of their garden. The plants and the landscape of the garden are the most important things that I will focus on when I will be having a garden of my own.

When I was a kid, my aunt and mom take care of a lot of orchids. Vanda and dendrobium are the species of orchids that compose the majority of the garden. They also take care of roses and gumamela which were very healthy and beautiful despite the weather that we have in our region.

When I ask my mother how she maintains our garden. She would just say, “I talk to them and ask them to stay beautiful and healthy as they are now. I also ask them to grow more flowers and to be strong against pests.” As a kid, of course I believed her with no questions. But when I grew up, I thought she was playing jokes on me. Because I know that plants don’t have ears and it would be useless to talk to them since they wouldn’t hear us!

Until one day when I was twelve, I heard my mom say, “Here comes some water for you to freshen up. Stay healthy and beautiful, ok?” I only realized that she was talking to the orchids when I found no one else in the garden area other than my mom.

In my observation, the plants in our garden never got tired of having flowers that bloom beautifully.

Is it really those words that make them healthy? I have no idea! I’ll just see when I already have one of my own.
